The Wellington Gathering Grove

A nature-inspired brand identity for a new kind of community space

The Wellington Gathering Grove exists to fill a gap that a lot of people feel, the need for a place to gather that isn't a church, a legion, or formal space. Housed in a small heritage church nestled into the community of Wellington, Nova Scotia, The Grove grew out of the owner's own search for connection, meaning, and community. The brand needed to feel elevated and professional without tipping into formal or religious territory, and welcoming enough to signal that everyone belongs here.

The identity is built around three core attributes: nature, community, and sophistication. The crest frames a "G" within an arched window surrounded by nature-inspired details, drawing from the large arched windows throughout the space that frame nature at every angle.  The design feels grounded and warm enough to resonate with a community that moved to Wellington for life that comes with it, while refined enough to attract bookings from well beyond the local area.

The custom wordmark uses a letter treatment that nods to connection you’ll find within The Grove, while the typography system pairs a bold expressive serif with a clean modern sans serif for clarity across all applications. The colour palette blends warm neutrals and an earthy green with accents of clay-red, soft sky-blue, and warm yellow, natural without feeling rustic. The arched window shape carries through the system as a repeating pattern and a framing device for photography, giving the brand a cohesive visual language that holds up equally well across social media, website, and print.

The Wellington Gathering Grove now has a brand that matches the space. Professional, elevated, and welcoming to everyone who walks through the door.

Brett’s branding gives us a huge sense of pride. He crafted a cohesive design that gives us the professional and elevated touch we were envisioning. After exploring a few graphic designers, I was relieved to find Brett as he is reliable, creative, communicative, and collaborative—a surprisingly challenging mix of traits to find in one designer. Can’t recommend him enough!
